the preferred reading is the producers presenting upper class British life as luxurious, deluxe and expensive. they suggest that upper class people are wealthy and are interested in fashion, jewellery and parties, which rich people are stereotypically linked to . the producers want the magazine to be presented as modern and relatable to the target audience.

the opposiotional reading is that it could deter people from buying it because they dont show any interest and they are unable to relate to it. the main target audience is upper class and that will make working class people feel excluded and this will lessen the chance of them buying it. also the cover image features a girl wearing makeup and this can offend people because it could possibly suggest women are feminine and they are girly.
