Statement of Intent

No Coincidence

“But she looks so innocent”

Lena arrives to UK, fostered, unsure of life in Britain. She discovers the unimaginable…. This follows with murders and the discovery of her dead mother. She should’ve stayed unsure.

Representation

the main lead character is a young polish girl as in the horror film genre, a polish girl playing the main role subverts the stereotype of a main character. I am representing the more niche community of Europeans and women in the media industry. Women are rarely seen as a main character as well as children is the foster system. This targets niche communities. The director is female which subverts the usual stereotypes.

 

Audience

target audience is 16+ due the graphic imagery. No Coincidence creates a sense of escapism (Blumer and Katz) as the story line is out of the ordinary. The audience create a relationship with the main character as they sympathise for her.

 

Pic 1: long shot with low angle to include Lena and her vital discovery of the box containing the confession tapes of her dead mother.

Pic 2:

 I would like to use different lighting throughout the movie to highlight the main characters evil side coming out, this will help the audience understand my character better

Pic 3:

I would use a long shot to show the distress Lena been through, she will also be covered in blood with messy hair and makeup holding the murder weapon in front of the murder house/ crime scene.
