1) How many of the 12 magazine cover key conventions feature on this edition of Reveal? List them with specific reference to the convention on the CSP edition of Reveal.
 9 out of the 12 conventions are in Reveal . The title of the publication can be found in the top third of the magazine and uses a sans-serif font in all of its magazines Reveal does not do have one main central image, but instead 7 smaller images scattered around the cover of the magazine. These consistent of a majority of paparazzi shots that aren't professionally taken in a studio. Reveal magazine has multiple flash lines in their magazine covers and they are normally placed alongside each image in the magazine. this edition Reveal doesn't have any free offers, other editions usually do, since the psychographics of their audience is usually the Struggler, so anything free is automatically going to attract their attention and make them eager to buy the product.  Reveal uses many name checks to attract an audience also it tends to use simplified English in their covers to make it more understandable.

2) What is the font choice used on the cover and what does this choice connote?
sans serif meaning and it is quite an informal and modern

3) How do the cover lines appeal to the Reveal target audience?
they are simply worded to make it more understandable to read which suggests their target audience (working-lower class) are not smart and are not able to interpret high level vocab. 

4) What are the connotations of the Reveal colour scheme on this particular front cover?
The eye catching colours such as pink,red and yellow suggests to the readers that this magazine is full of happy, bright interesting stories.The use of bright colours may suggest that this magazine is bursting with new hot topics and stories that they cant wait to tell. 

5) How are images used to create interest in the magazine? Find three reasons for your answer. (E.g. mise-en-scene such as props, costume and make-up, body position, facial expression).
The outfits worn are more on the casual side and laid back, also the pictures are not staged but clearly paparazzi taken and because the pictures are taken in ordinary places it reinforces how the magazine would want the readers to feel as if they are ordinary people. This is important as it make the readers think that the celebrities are as normal as they are.

6) What differences can you find between the use of design and typography between Tatler and Reveal? List at least three and explain the effect on audiences.
Tatler uses serif to be more sophisticated to appeal to upper class whereas Reveal uses sans serif which is more common and modern which could imply that they try to attract more middle class/lower class. Tatler has only one image which is from a professional photo shoot but Reveal is covered in overlapping photos from the paparazzi which suggest that Tatler has access to celebrities and can afford to have professional pictures while Reveal relies on free/cheap unprofessional photos.
 Lastly Tatler has several cover lines though as the focus is on the cover model but on Reveal, the cover lines are large and colourful and the reader is bombarded with different stories.

Majority are reality stars,actors, musicians and they are all everyday celebrities. they can be seen in a negative light because only 2 men are featured and its all white women except beyonce

2) How are women represented on the cover of Reveal? Think about both images and cover lines here.
women are represented in a very stereotypical way because its showing that when a woman isnt looking attractive she is being a mother and nothing else

3) How do Reveal and Tatler represent social class? (E.g. middle/upper class and working class)
the target audience is a working-lower class and they are represented as not intelligent as the writers use able-to-understand vocabulary also they are seen to be uneducated because they are made to seen as if they only care about gossip and not other things like the news, because thats what shown in reveal 

4) What would be the preferred and oppositional readings to this cover of Reveal?
The preferred reading would be that this magazine is packed with interesting stories that will bring the reader closer to the celebrity and they will gain exclusive insight into the lives of celebrities. The oppositional reading is that the paparazzi photos suggest that because the photos haven't been authorised, the information in the magazine hasn't been confirmed and isn't credible and by fitting in so many stories, they will be brief and not detailed.


Social and cultural context

1) What aspects of British life are reflected in Reveal? How does this compare to Tatler?
This magazine represents the lower class as gossip-crazy because there's a heavy emphasis on relationship troubles whereas Tatler focuses predominantly on fashion and social status.

2) What do the cover lines in Reveal suggest about the issues and lifestyle of Reveal readers?
The cover lines regarding motherhood suggest that the majority of Reveal readers are maternal women or mothers 
The magazine offers ''one simple trick'' for skin care which suggests the readers are bothered about improving their appearance.

they all mention relationships and some sort of dieting or healthcare
