The scene opens with a medium shot as we can see 3/4 of the characters body and the background. It is also an over the shoulder shot because we can see her from behind. This shot focuses more on the background environment and the character’s gestures and body movements, while still being close enough to capture their emotions. In this scene she is panicked and worried that someone is in the house.
Halfway through the scene (1:48), we see the character fall down the stairs and then we get a close up shot of her face. This is used as it allows her reaction and emotions to set the scene. The character in this scene becomes the main focus which will help the audience engage with the characters thoughts and feelings without being distracted by the background. We see her face and we can clearly tell she is distraught. She does not know who or what is in her house and what pushed her down the stairs.
The ending shot is a medium shot of the door shut closed and rattling yet unable to be opened. This makes the audience aware of danger and risk in this film. Also the scene closing like that makes the audience more alert and grabs their attention because it leaves them wondering what happened to the character.
There is a use of high angles when the character is pushed down the stairs to show who/what pushed her down is superior, dominant and has more power than her. The shot of her at the bottom of the stairs in pain shows that she is less superior and more inferior to the other person/being.
